Every italian region borders with a country (France Switzerland Austria and Slovenia) or has a seaside, out of Umbria. Can you find Umbria on the map? What does this mean? This means that wherever you live in Italy, your region will have sea OR you can travel to another country without crossing any region. But not if you live in Umbria. Stromboli is a small island in the Tyrrhenian Sea, off the north coast of Sicily, containing Mount Stromboli, one of the three active volcanoes in Italy. It is one of the eight Aeolian Islands, a volcanic arc north of Sicily. Strabo writes that people believed that this is where Aeolus (a mhytical character) lived.
In the early 1900s a few thousand people inhabited the island, but after several waves of emigration the population has numbered a few hundred since the mid-1950s.
Its name is derived from the Ancient Greek name Strongýlē, which was derived from στρογγύλος (strongýlos, "round"), after the volcano's round, conical appearance when seen from a distance.

There are many famous places in Italy! But did you know about Lago di Resia? Lake Resia is characterized by the cute tower of the church of the ancient village of Curon, in Alto Adige (sudtirol), which today is submerged by the waters. In fact, the lake is a semi-artificial basin. The construction of a dam led to the raising of the waters, so much so as to submerge the town. I think that some fishes are partying hard into the old houses!

In Italy you can find more than 100 shapes of pasta! And even if maybe they are made of the same ingredients (sometimes not!) we like to think (and for me it's totally true) that they taste different!
