Why is it so difficult for some people to build trust?
Or to switch the perspective, why you find it hard to trust somebody?
Most of the time, it is because these people failed to show genuine vulnerability. The key is to trust then to be trusted. It is just like seek to understand before to be understood.
This is my take. What's yours?
Have you ever had a case when your email was positively over-interpreted? I haven’t...
Communication has become indeed more efficient in the digital age, but not necessarily more effective! It is difficult to express your intentions in a written format and even in conference calls. Your body language is missing and it’s often very important to know it.
So what can we do to make our communication more effective in the digital era:
📍Writing an email should be your last resort! Give a call instead if not possible to meet F2F.
📍Don’t be afraid to use emojis! I know they look a bit unprofessional, but they do help to express your emotions.
📍Record short video messages. I know! Recording videos isn’t very comfortable, but they do express you better.
What are your thoughts on communication in the digital era?
More than half of young LGBTI people in the Lithuanian schools feel insecure about their sexual orientation and gender identity. Only 5% of them have never encountered homophobic, biphobic, or transphobic hate speech in their learning environment.
These are the findings of a study conducted a few years ago, but unfortunately the problem still exists. One of the reasons why the already vulnerable part of the LGBTI community, young self-seeking people, must withstand such pressure is the lack of #tolerance and positive information 💡
Our Berta& partner Lithuanian Centre for Human Rights is one of those who see this reality perfectly. Most of us have recently belonged to this age group focused in the study, some of us are already raising children, have LGBTI friends, relatives or have encountered a fierce homophobic opinion at least once - we all understand the importance of basic human support 💪
We work in communications, damn powerful communications. We bet our lives that the need not to turn a blind eye to topics like this, moreover, not to cause distortions of it is extremely significant, maybe even a life and death solution in order to take care not only of LGBTI youth, but also of ourselves ☝ A mature, broad-minded and enviably successful community ❤
