There are around 542,000 children between the ages of 2 and 14 with type 1 diabetes in the world. And those numbers are rising every year. The most effective way to manage this type of illness is by wearing an insulin pump which is inserted in children's bodies all the time. The free movement becomes limited, devices are seen and raise questions from peers, these children have limited leisure opportunities and, what is most important, the device is vulnerable, which causes serious health risks. By seeing all these problems in my close environment, I came up with the idea to create garments that are specially designed for children who have 1 type of diabetes. That's how the nonprofit organization "Our Pocket Hero" was born, and it carries a very responsible mission - create clothing that ensures the safe carrying of the insulin pump and gives more freedom to move. What is most important, with the help of special pockets the device is safe and not visible and this makes it easier for children to integrate into society and live a life of better quality.
"Our Pocket Hero" has already been recognized by the "Reach for Change" organization - in 2019 I won the "Ella Fund" prize.
What's my purpose?
To spread the awareness of problems that children with diabetes type 1 face; To find the solutions by cooperating with similar organizations in the field; To find partners and develop the product to help ensure the best life quality for children with type 1 diabetes; To build the supporting community of businesses, professionals, and, of course, parents.
