Lets talk about OpenAI and their recent decision not to release GPT-3(state of the art Natural Language model). Probably best NLP model available with good feedback so far.
1️⃣ But first some background:
OpenAI was originally created as non-profit by Elon Musk and Sam Altman with mission:
- OpenAI Mission is to ensure that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity. If AIG is achived - it should not be concentrated in on hands.

2️⃣ Now what happened with OpenAI and their most recent language model GPT-3 so far:
1. As a company they changed their non-profit structure to two companies. For-profit corporation OpenAI LP and its parent organization, the non-profit OpenAI Inc.
2. They didn’t release and not planning to release stripped down model versions(as they did with GPT-2).
3. For profit OpenAI LP took $1B investment from Microsoft.
4. Most importantly. They made paid API for others to use/test GPT-3. Some for profit companies are using it and are listed as "testers".
3️⃣ Said all of the above - they still have same Charter and mission. It seems that this "open reseach company" marketing move worked very well(Elon Musk is good at this).
And now OpenAI looks to be usual company with a goal of profit(altough they claim to be capped-profits). OpenAI in essence seems to be same company as Amazon(AWS) or Google(Cloud offerings).
Do anyone else see this differently? Thoughts?
Tesla having sales problems in Europe.
1️⃣ Tesla Germany sales decreased to 5306 in 2020 from 6816 in 2019 same period. All EV sales grew 65% in 2020 vs 2019 in Germany! Overall Tesla EV market share is 8.7%, lagging after Volkswagen(38.3%), Renault(16.2%), Hyunday(12.0%).
2️⃣ Other Europe markets shows similar trends. Tesla is sixth automaker by EV sales in Spain+Norway+Netherlands.
Will US/China sales compensate for loss in Europe? How Europe sales will affect stock price?
Software is eating the world.
Zoom is now worth more than 7 biggest airlines combined.
If you think this comparison is a bit odd, stop for a second and realize that airlines and video communication software are actually in an indirect competition.
We all have attended a meeting that should have been an email and we probably also have been on a business-trip that could have been a video call.
This is one of the best examples of dematerialization and how capitalism and technological progress is allowing humanity to do More from Less. It’s a book full of optimism telling how as we get richer, we are using resources more efficiently, using less energy, causing less pollution and cleaning up the pollution of the past.

Tikiu Clubhouse ištobulins aplikaciją su tam tikrais tweakais (pvz. kad pašnekovai nepertraukinėtų vienas kito) ir tai galėtų tapti de facto įrankiu raw online panelinėms diskusijoms. Tačiau, IMHO Clubhouse failina vienoje vietoje, kurią bando solvinti kitas mūsų šalies startuolis - Qoorio.
Tai yra konkrečių žmonių su specifinėmis žiniomis atradimas (discoverability). Clubhouse daug triukšmo ir yra rizika įlįsti į tematinį burbulą, klausantis šarlatanų. Įrankių atsijoti grūdus nuo pelų jame bent kol kas nėra.
Clubhouse ir Qoorio hibridui, kuris išsprendžia žmogaus(-ių) su reikiamomis žiniomis atradimą ir suteikia platformą diskusijai (1-to-1; 1-to-many; many-to-many) pieščiau šviesią ateitį.
