Software Systems Engineer in Databases
Vilnius, Lithuania

I have started programming at the age of nine, and now - almost three decades later - still find it to be as exciting as it was back then.

I work on low-level system (kernels, compilers, databases) internals development. During my MSc studies I worked on GCC compiler at Google Summer of Code program and then at Google itself as an intern. Then I did research as a PhD student on database spatial indexes. While there were some good results, ultimately I lost interest in finishing the degree, and moved to MySQL world at Percona. During the eight years there I played a part in pushing the technical MySQL state of the art forward and ended up as the MySQL dev team technical lead.
