What’s the next big thing for Qoorio?
That is the question I was discussing with one of my colleagues yesterday.
We initially started with a simple app that allows people to buy & sell their knowledge. It worked partially because only a few people were receiving requests for their knowledge from strangers.
Today we are moving to a much more sophisticated product, our current big bet. Instead of being a simple knowledge trading app, we are becoming a human to human learning network. We are adding features so people can express their thoughts and stories through the app and learn from and about each other by reading those stories. And if they want to go deeper, they can do that by arranging a 1:1 talk. I feel this is huge. Recently I tried the old version of Qoorio and then a current one - and, indeed, the current one is more alive, more human, more interesting. Very qoorious to see what will be the impact once we finish the transformation.
However, our journey will not be finished, and we will need to keep innovating and to come up with a bet on the next big thing. What is that thing?
We don’t know yet. However, we are looking at one particular element of Qoorio experience. As we are creating tools for people to express their stories through insights, we see some people already are engaged in it. However, we feel that many people struggle to create & share their insights. Why? They say they don’t know what to write or think they have nothing to say. On the other hand, every human being is an endless book, and everyone has endless things to say. How to open that book?
I can relate to people who don’t know what to write on Qoorio, and I haven’t shared anything meaningful for about a week. Is it true that I have nothing to share? We are building Qoorio, so many things are happening every day, and for sure, there should be something to share.
I have a topic ‘Building Qoorio’ on my profile. So far, it has only two insights, nonetheless, we are building it for 1.5+ years. I could use this topic and just document my thoughts every few days. Just like I am doing it now.
I also noticed one person has created a topic ‘My startup journey’ and has shared his thoughts on his journey. That was lovely. My colleague said that he will create a topic ‘Boating’ and will document his journey from never boating to having a boat license and boating many times. I would read that with pleasure.
Does authentic storytelling, documenting & sharing your thoughts, journey, events can be an answer to the question of what to share on Qoorio? I don’t know yet, qoorious to learn what do you think about it?
I have been in programming since 1990. There was a period when I didn’t program anything for a few years, but I still kept a “hand on pulse” and observe what was going on in the world. At that time, the inscription "4th Industrial Revolution" came to my attention, which intrigued me and became an object of observation. I have been following the events of the 4th Industrial Revolution for many years and the further I go, the more fascinated I am by what awaits us in the near future, and a lot of things are happening right now. I wrote a little bit about it in my previous post. Today, I want to share my vision of what corporate accounting might look like in the near future.
The three areas of the 4th Industrial Revolution will, in my view, completely change accounting as we see it today:

In today’s post, I’ll touch on Blockchain’s influence, and next week I’ll talk about AI, ML and IoT.
Many people, and maybe even the vast majority, think of Blockchain, it’s Bitcoin, or some sort of crypto currency. No. Blockchain is a technology, and crypto currency is a product created with the help of that technology.
This technology is revolutionizing data storage by eliminating third parties such as notaries, brokers and so on. Certain countries use it to sign cadastral contracts (avoiding notaries). Many companies use this technology to transfer batch data for products such as coffee (eliminating brokers), and so on. There are many areas of application.
But when this technology comes into use at the state level, I mean State Tax Inspectorate (STI), Social Insurance Inspectorate, Registry center and so on, then the management of business processes will change, one of which is accounting.
You come to the store and buy stationery supplies for your company. The cash register of the store is connected to the STI blockchain system, which records the transaction, it is the purchase of your goods and the sale of the seller’s goods.
An accounting company (like Virtualus buhalteris), which provides you accounting services is connected to the STI blockchain network. After the transaction, the data is received by STI, accounting services company and your company’s ERP system as it is also connected to this STI blockchain network.
You will not need to print a cashier's check, invoice and hand them over to an accountant. The accountant will not need to enter them into his accounting system, as the data will be available from the STI blockchain, where the transaction is recorded.
This saves time, eliminates the possibility of errors and, most importantly, reduces the cost of accounting services for you.
Blockchain is like a huge, highly secure, database that stores all transactions. All tax reports and other documents will be submitted at the click of a button, as all data will already exist in the blockchain.
Many of you will say that the state will see everything and that way it will collect more taxes. Yes, I agree with that, but the talk is not about that. Whether we like it or not, progress will not stop. We can only adapt by adapting to it and use it to achieve our goals.

How the comfort zone is ruining your life?
🔸 #4 insight: Comfort zone
This is so known topic that I even doubted to write it. But the more I think about it, the more I understand how close and yet so far this topic is for me.
We all know that there are two groups for all the physical things we can do in our life:
- Inside the comfort zone: takes little or no effort to do, feels comfortable, no mental resistance. For example, for most of the people driving is completely in their comfort zone. They drive to work, shop, home. And since driving is so easy, at one point or another, your brain went and subconsciously placed it inside the comfort zone, so you don’t really think about doing it before you do it, it’s just something you do.
- Outside. Okay, how about going for a run? A lot harder, isn’t it? It’s more physically strenuous, requires more preparation, it makes you lose your breath or sweat, and if you haven’t ran for a while, you’ll probably be really sore the next day. And because you know running is physically strenuous and hard to do, your brain placed it outside the comfort zone. The further outside the comfort zone something is, the more mental resistance there is in the way of doing that thing.
Zone also always shrinking, if you don’t do anything about it. Unless you venture at least a little bit beyond the borders of the comfort zone, it will get smaller and harder to escape. And this is something that most people have experienced in their lives, whether they are aware of it or not.
In my own life this happens all the time, like when I was 18 and got my driving licence, I was so excited at that point, driving was so easy to me and felt very good about it. But since I had no car, lived in the city centre, my brain moved it outside the comfort zone and now I’m really afraid to do it. Of course, brain generates to me all necessary arguments: eco friendly, avoiding traffic jams, walking is good for you. In reality, I’m just staying away from what’s outside my comfort zone now.
This gets even more serious. You know that phrase “Men aren’t taking their health seriously”? I look at myself and I see that I feel more comfortable being sick, suffer pain than go to a doctor. This is because my brain tells me “this is something common, this will stop one day, think of all that wasted time, it will cost a lot, they can’t help anyway” instead of fixing situation I'm in.
Today my back was injured while playing volleyball. I was laying on my back at home in deep pain and wishing it would stop. Then, I started coughing. It made my back pain even worse, like needles crossing me with every cough. Then I realised I was coughing for 2 years already. This is not something new, it just wasn’t in the circle of something easily achievable.
I was so angry on this whole situation that my brain just wanted to cut it all now. Do something! And I did. Today I registered to check my back, my knees and elbows that were in pain from playing 5 times a week. And my coughing. And wrote this post that I was doubting about.
Why are we afraid of change in our work or life?
🔸 #3 insight: Adapt change
We all strive towards outcomes at work, at home and in our communities because we believe they will make us happy. It might be a good job, a loving relationship, money or possessions. It might be better health or spiritual peace of mind. Let's call all of them our lovely "Cheese".
And it can feel wonderful when we eventually get our cheese. Then, we hold to it tightly and dream it will never end.
Yet life is constantly changing and sometimes it blocks (or even undoes) things we expect, feel we deserve or have worked so long and so hard to accomplish. But because we fear starting again, looking foolish or that we might end up somewhere worse, we often don’t want to change when things begin changing around us.
I always felt very confident about changes around and even called it my comfort zone. Yet life kicked my butt recently at work multiple times. I wasn't growing so fast I was used to. Then, it begun:
- I denied it's my problem.
- I was frustrated and started to blame others.
- I held to what was, instead of what simply now is.
- And I wasn't ready to look for a new cheese.
I'm so lucky to be surrounded by emphatic people who felt my frustration. Immediately offered their help and it took me 24 hours to find a new cheese. I'm sharing this with you and hope it will help like it did to me. Maybe not today, tomorrow, or even this year, but knowing this makes us as individuals stronger.
Change is inevitable. Anticipate it, adapt to it, learn to embrace and enjoy it. Do so and you won’t just suffer less stress and unhappiness, you’ll enjoy more success and fulfillment in every part of your life and your work.
