"SI VIS PACEM, PARA BELLUM" translated "If you want peace, prepare for war" is a Latin proverb, what do you think about it? Is being ready for war necessary to prevent conflicts?

We could all discuss the ramifications of the matter for hours on end, but there’s one thing that’s certain: having a powerful military and resourceful allies is of the utmost importance and it must be among the first state priorities and objectives in today’s international scenario.

I absolutely agree, and Europe current stage is worrying me, following the latest researches europeans are not willing to fight for their country, many young people especially in Western Europe would not fight to defend their motherland.

Why yes, it is worrying, but for other reasons. I think we “evolved” (or rather advanced, mind you. Since the latter term might give the wrong impression.) beyond open conflict and all-out war. Power plays, incursions, subtle territorial claims and disputes, proxy wars... we’ve (as in from my father’s generation, and so on up until now) witnessed how, since the iron curtain-call, conflict has taken a turn from pragmatic to (even more) well thought, strategic and economic. Let’s see how us Euros, and most importantly how NATO will handle this Sino-Russian reunion conundrum. I do partially agree with your statement concerning the European youth, although, as I revealed earlier, it is not the will to be prepared for conflict as a whole that’s needed. It’s the conscience of our society per se. Westerners have become a liquid society, rotten to its core by its’ caprices, which, with enough numbers, can become a constitutional Right. No matter how unethical, no matter how quaint. We have to regain some conscience and goodwill to turn our idea of democracy around. There’s nothing wrong about being diverse or inclusive, but we are highly at risk of forgetting our ideals and completely losing our grip on liberty itself, and that is by paradoxically granting ourselves too much of it. These are incredibly difficult and unsettling times, and we need to stay strong, and step up, now more than ever, before we crumble in front of new economic hegemonic powers.

I agree with both of you. Italy should return to make its interests again, from Libya to Mediterranean in general, and on the national side as well. Machiavelli was totally right.

Answering the question: I think that diplomacy is important, today it's more important diplomacy than military power, but others will leave you in peace if you're stronger. Then, times are surely changing, but also a motivated people will guarantee the necessary strength to nation to protect itself.

Absolutely. This is the motto of my Latvian national guard unit! The only way to deter an enemy invasion is to show that the pain following any military action will be serious. 💪🏻🇱🇻

Today I joined a streaming show on Twitch and the topic of the discussion was political correctness, what do you think about it? Is being politically correct a threat to free speech? Let's start a discussion here.

i totally agree, today debates are limited due to political correctness, which doesn't allow you to use some words or some expressions and prevent people from understanding each other.

This weekend in Italy there will be a referendum on a constitutional reform. The same days, there will be regional elections in 6 regions. If you are interested in knowing something more about what's going to happen and what impact the vote will have on Italian government. Please feel free to ask

However I don't think this vote will led to a crisis of the actual government. For non European there won't be significant repercussion since new migration law are not under discussion for now
