Lead Software Engineer @ Qoorio
Vilnius, Lithuania

I am a professional software engineer with years of experience in backend and mobile apps development (Ruby on Rails, iOS native, React Native). I could say many things about my style of work and results, but I guess if you are reading this text, you can judge my work by yourself as I am one the first developers of Qoorio app.

Hi Andrius! It goes without saying that relationships with our siblings can be complicated, marked by care and love as well as jealousy and competition. So, what has been like, working alongside your older brother who is also an engineer and a successful entrepreneur? If possible, please share how you see the pros and cons and the psychology of working (closely) with a family member. Thank you.☀️

An interesting question. I am fortunate to have such successful older brother. He was sort of a role model when I was young and is the main reason I pursued career as a software engineer. I would describe our personal and work relationship as caring and compassionate. I am not trying to compete with him nor I feel any kind of jealousy for his successes. Maybe it’s due to me seeing first hand how hard he worked to achieve all of it. Maybe the biggest con I personally felt, especially in my younger days, was constant need of proving my worth at the company so that people around me don’t assume I am there just because of my last name 🙃. I still get that from time to time from some people, but I guess it just does not bother me as it did years ago.

Andrius Janauskas on React native developmentLead Software Engineer @ Qoorio
Great news for all react native developers: authors behind reanimated library have announced major new version. It makes writing animations for react native apps much easier for the developers, but the real reason to be excited are the huge performance benefits promised. New library is written utilising new Javascript interface and is not using bridge calls at all. Animations written in javascript are executed and initialised synchronously on native side. This is groundbreaking stuff in my opinion. Check out full medium blog here: https://blog.swmansion.com/introducing-reanimated-2-752b913af8b3
