When I think of Japan, the first thought comes into my mind that this is the country where LEAN thinking was born! Since the start of my professional career I have been always interested in studying and practicing LEAN mindset not only in my professional environment, but also in personal life. Nevertheless, LEAN is mainly associated with waste reduction, efficiency gains and continuous improvement culture nurturing. So recently I was very happy to discover another interesting concept coming from Japan - Ikigai which translates as 'reason for living'. Japanese believe that cultivating Ikigai culture contributes to the population's longevity. In fact, there are a couple of research studies which show health benefits of having a clear Ikigai in your life. While I cannot comment about the health benefits and validity of the studies, I definitely agree that having your Ikigai contributes to personal happiness.

I am so happy to get my article published on Thrive Global community. This platform was founded by Arianna Huffington with the aim to improve our well-being and performance. In the article I am talking about the ‘millennial crisis’ term which I use to describe why I took a career break in 2019. This term got attached to many people with whom I talk, so I kept using it. Happy reading and please let me know your thoughts! https://thriveglobal.com/stories/are-you-facing-the-millennial-crisis-triggered-by-a-lousy-job/?utm_source=Newsletter_Transaction&utm_medium=Thrive&utm_campaign=Published
